TAMU RED is a student organization at Texas A&M University designing — and planning to build and test — a 3D-printed liquid rocket engine.

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide an avenue for students to develop an intuitive understanding of liquid rocket engines and liquid rocket engine design through an iterative process of designing, manufacturing, and testing engines capable of delivering small payloads to low earth orbit. Our purpose is to promote space science education, interdisciplinary cooperation, and real world experience that will prepare students for successful careers.

Through our mission, we will provide students the opportunity to gain practical experience designing, modeling, manufacturing, and testing complex machines while gaining expertise in spaceflight operations and modern liquid rocket engines design and development. Additionally, we intend to primarily use additively manufactured components, which will allow us to support research and innovation in 3D printing metals for high performance machines.


Our long term objective is to design, manufacture, and test a primarily additively manufactured liquid rocket engine.
